Most booking apps take a pro's word on licensing. Here, pros submit their NY license number, and we review it against public records from the New York Department of State's Division of Licensing Services before a listing goes live.

  • License reviewed: the pro gave us an active NY appearance enhancement license (cosmetology, esthetics, nail specialty, waxing or natural hair styling), or a NY barber license, and we matched it to their name in the state's public records.
  • In-home eligible: the pro told us they hold or work under an appearance enhancement business license, which New York requires for services outside a licensed shop (19 NYCRR §160.8), and we reviewed it in the public records.
  • Kept current: we plan to re-review licenses over time, and a listing whose license has expired or become inactive loses its badge.
