A badge that actually means something

Most booking apps take a pro's word on licensing. We check each listing against public records from the New York Department of State's Division of Licensing Services.

  • Verified licensed: an active NY appearance enhancement license (cosmetology, esthetics, nail specialty, waxing or natural hair styling), or a NY barber license, matched to the pro's name.
  • Verified for in-home: the pro holds or works under an appearance enhancement business license, which New York requires for services outside a licensed shop (19 NYCRR §160.8).
  • Re-checked regularly: expired or inactive licenses lose their badge automatically.
